Fire Service Leak Detection and Repair – Commercial Flooring Retail Facility
Background
Majestic Plumbing has been the trusted plumbing partner for this national commercial flooring retail business for several decades. Our services include all plumbing and gas works across multiple WA sites, including advanced leak detection and urgent repair capabilities.
In July 2023, the client reached out to our team regarding a suspected burst in their fire service system after experiencing a noticeable pressure loss. Due to the critical nature of fire infrastructure, immediate attention was required.
INVESTIGATIVE FINDINGS:
Our tradesmen attended site to investigate suspected burst. There was a pressure loss in the fire system, our tradesman performed Acoustic Leak Detection of the complex.
We determined the fire service had a burst. Using our Acoustic Leak Detection equipment, we were successful in making a positive detection with an approximate location to be under the external concrete wall.
After the successful location, we pinpointed an exact location by drilling a hole through the bitumen in the ground to test the dampness in the sand. Immediately water started flowing out of the hole drilled in ground.
REPAIR WORKS:
Majestic Plumbing offer a full service for both leak detection and repairs for this customer. Our Tradesman made the repairs after successfully locating this onsite. Our tradesmen cut and removed section of bitumen and excavated area to expose fire service, locating a burst on the 150mm Copper 90 underneath concrete footing. Tested water service, backfilled and reinstated bitumen.
During this process Majestic worked closely with Protector Fire to isolate all alarm systems and fire sprinklers due to working on the fire service. Our tradesmen also liaised with the local Fire Department ensuring they were aware that the building did not have a fire service while we make repairs due to the burst, and will be restored once completed.
CONCLUSION:
After completion of the works, we provided a detailed comprehesive report of our findings including photos and location of the burst GPS Coordinates through using our Leak Detection Equipment.
As we provided repair works to Carpet Call, we provided a report for the repairs made for the inground burst on the fire service repaired with a flow rate of 1,200 litres per hour prior to detection and repairs being made by Majestic Plumbing.
