CASE STUDY

Fire Service Leak Detection & System Restoration

Project Summary

Majestic Plumbing was engaged to carry out a full fire service leak detection and repair scope for a popular hospitality venue located in Perth’s northern suburbs.

The works involved isolating, testing, and investigating the site’s fire system infrastructure following suspected water loss, as well as undertaking urgent repairs and post-repair system testing.

Majestic Plumbing attended site to isolate and test all sections of the fire system to 1700 kPa, identifying a pressure drop on the line outside the tavern. Acoustic leak detection equipment was used to pinpoint the inground burst on the sluice valve, after which our team returned to barricade the area, isolate and drain the system, remove bitumen, excavate the valve location, and identify a split stainless steel compression ring causing the leak; the faulty valve was replaced with a new table E flanged sluice valve, and following successful pressure testing of the isolated section, the area was backfilled, reinstated, and the full system tested again to 1700 kPa with all tests passing, before returning the pumps and fire system to normal operation.

Outcome

The fire system was successfully restored to full operational condition. All leak detection and repair works were completed in line with regulations, with clear documentation provided to the client for compliance and reference.

Majestic Plumbing remains available to assist with the recommended upgrades to pressure switch components and system pipework for long-term reliability.
